The Global Petroleum Show (GPS) gives an entire range of industries the opportunity to grow their customer base, network with potential clients, get new leads, check out competition and more. Figuring out if your company is the right fit to exhibit at GPS can be tough, especially if your company is not classified as an oil and gas company.
GPS exhibition and the Strategic and Technical Conferences encompass the world of energy including petroleum, natural gas, clean energy and innovative technology.
The dmg events team caught up with LabTest Certification Inc. Business Manager, Erika Nordio, to talk about their experience exhibiting at GPS.
LabTest Certification Inc. is an accredited Certification Body, Testing Laboratory and Inspection Body accredited to ISO 17065, ISO 17025, and ISO 17020 by national and international accreditation bodies (ILAC and IAF Signatory Members) that include: Standards Council of Canada (SCC), International Accreditation Services (IAS), ANSI-ASQ National Accreditation Board (ANAB), and recognized as an IECEx and IECEE CB Scheme member.
Working among a variety of industries, LabTest Certification Inc. was looking for ways to build their connections in the oil and gas market, educate companies about what they do and build brand recognition.
LabTest Certification Inc. began their journey by attending GPS. As visitors, LabTest Certification Inc. was able to learn who the exhibitors and attendees were, and if they matched their target audience. With this knowledge, their team developed a target audience and decided to exhibit in 2017. During the first year of exhibiting, their commitment paid off with an impressive return on investment in the form of valuable business connections and lead generation.
During their first year of exhibiting, LabTest Certification Inc. executed a strong marketing strategy utilizing the GPS Marketing Toolkit (available to all exhibitors), a strong social media presence and an ideal booth location that brought countless attendees to their booth. The team enhanced their value as exhibitors by attending the Special Events at GPS, including the GPS Awards Gala, which recognized industry leaders, and mingling at the various
With the success during their first year, LabTest Certification Inc. had high expectations to return for a second year of exhibiting. The opportunity to rebook came at the end of the first GPS – this easy and simple process, lead by their Account Manager, guaranteed their return to the same highly-desirable location on the exhibition floor.
Building on the first year’s success, year two’s results were staggering and exceeded expectations. Nordio strongly believes the success was due to a dedicated marketing campaign, as well as word-of-mouth referrals by their
network. “We reached out to our clients using many channels, creating a process that allowed us to be super active on social media… we sent out email blasts… we mailed out invitations… we hit all the boxes… it’s one of our biggest shows!”
GPS is an easy fit for LabTest Certification Inc., as they are applicable to every company developing a product. For them, every attendee that goes by is relevant and the quality and quantity of the attendees get better with every year. “The show was crazy busy. There were three of us at the booth and we were struggling at some points to keep up.”
While the Global Petroleum Show focuses on the oil and gas sector, often times, it has something to offer
non-traditional organizations. LabTest Certification Inc. is a prime example – the products and services offered by their company is applicable to most organizations at GPS.
To measure success, LabTest Certification Inc. aims for it all: increased brand awareness, increased number of
referrals, sales, number of resumes for open job positions and the increased number of connections.
Speaking from experience, Nordio would recommend any company to exhibit at the Global Petroleum Show if it’s the right fit. “Between the visitors of the exhibit and the delegates from the conferences, there was a lot of diversity in the attendees. This is a clear turning point for the industry, hence, a great time to exhibit.”
